This classic JABO marble run has some very interesting history behind it. This JABO marble run was named in respect of Howard “Hod” Powell, one of the long time JABO colleagues who played a big part in the development of the various JABO marble manufacturing processes. As the story goes, all the gray glass pigment in the Hod's run was supposed to be an orange glass pigment. Orange was Hod’s favorite color. However, the chemicals were apparently mixed incorrectly and the orange never materialized in any large way. To add to the confusion, some of the investors mixed these Hod's Marvels into their Hillbilly Magic marbles. Lastly, it was rumored that a special marble lovingly referred to as the Silver Fox was from this run (this is not the Silver Fox).

This particular marble has some of the more plentiful gold lutz chunks on the surface compared to other lutz marbles produced by the JABO team. The gold lutz on this marble is of the chunky type, not the fine lutz mist type. I really like this style of marble. Then we have the awesome oxblood swirls: there are two types...the bigger thicker swirls and then the very thin stringer type swirls. This combination is quite pleasing to the eyes, I must admit. You can also see the unusual blue swirl of glass that produces a lovely contrast with all the other colors. This Hod's Marvel would fit nicely into any collection.

  I take most of my pictures with a Canon Rebel DSLR camera with built-in flash. I try to rotate the marble to give a good view of every angle so the buyer knows exactly what they are getting. This marble was made on the 3/4" machine and measures 0.744" in diameter.
