Richard "The King" Petty started his racing career in 1958. In 1972 Petty got a sponsorship from STP Oil Company. Petty was unstoppable in the 70's - winning the Winston Cup in 1971, 1972, 1974, 1975, and 1979 - he also won the Daytona 500 in 1971, 1973, and 1979
