David Yurman designs are ever changing.
Just because you have many pieces from various years past, it does not mean
current designs will be exactly the same. There are many differences in the
same product from year to year.
1. David Yurman designs change from year
to year not only in style but in the following:
A. Hallmarks ... how and where they are placed change all the time
on old and new designs
B. Weight of the pieces. Recently the 5mm, 7mm and 10mm bracelets
have become lighter. If you have an older piece, it will probably be
heavier
C. Yurman is using bonded gold on many items instead of solid gold.
D. Yurman makes different designs for different stores like Saks, Neiman
Marcus, and his own boutiques.
E. All stones vary in color and sometimes cut depending when it was
made and who it was made for ( such as Saks)
F.
Color of gold, shine, and presentation varies depending where and when item was
made.
2. Many stores will tell you an item is
not authentic when you say you purchased elsewhere, as they want your
business and are on commission. Naturally they want you to buy from them.
A. They are not abreast of changes in Yurman designs
B. They want to discourage buying non-retail
C.
Many sales people are not really trained in all the designs, marking and
changes with Yurman designs. Plus they might just have been transferred
from another department to Fine Jewelry and really do not know the design past
of Yurman items.
