How will the oven look when I receive it?

The oven components will have the typical silver/gun-metal gray color of new un-coated steel. It will not look rusted.

Will the campfire rust?

Yes, the campfire is specifically designed to rust over time to form a rich red-brown coating on the surface of the steel which protects against further corrosion.

To prevent it from rusting, you can coat it in a thin layer of oil every so often.

How should I care for the Campfire?

As stated in the previous point, the steel is designed to rust and this rust protects it from rusting more. (seems stupid, but it's true). To protect it from rust, we recommend coating the oven in a thin layer of oil every few months before you use it.We recommend keeping the grid and skillet (if purchased) oiled and seasoned regularly so that rust doesn't have a chance to form and get into the food that you cook.
