2008 Gibson Custom Shop Historic Collection 1957 Les Paul Reissue Goldtop Darkback VOS is now in stock.

This is a reissue model of Les Paul with humbuckers made in 1957, the first year of release.

Maple top, mahogany back, mahogany neck with rose fingerboard, and royal materials are used.

The pickups are "Burstbucker #1" on the front and "Burstbucker #2" on the rear, giving it a fat sound with a bite.

The back color is "Dark Back", which makes it look tighter overall, and many people may prefer this to the "Natural Back".

The truss rod cover has been repaired with masking tape from the back, and the nut has been replaced with a "Montreux Delrin nut for LP" and the pot with a "Historic Spec 500K Audio Taper Pot/Short Shaft PPAT-059".

The back panel of the controls and toggles have been replaced with "Montreux Time Machine Collection HIST LP Brown".

The guitar has been well cared for and used, with scratches, and paint chips on the head, but it has naturally aged well.

The truss rod has plenty of room on both sides, and the frets are at 70% overall, with about 60% remaining on the areas where they have decreased.

The fat rock sound with a strong mid from the thick grip characteristic of this period is unmistakable.
