This is a beautiful early 1900’s, Louis XV Style, Elaborate French Bombe Commode 2Drawer Chest With Lift Off Marble Top, Decorative Brass Side Mounts Detailed Handles and Brass Sabots (Shoes) To Slightly Flared Legs.



A beautiful sturdy antique French commode chest of drawers with a wavy serpentine front and 2wide drawers, intricate and detailed kingwood and floral marquetry is seen to front and sides, brass mounts to each corner and front apron add an impressive effect, decorative brass handles and shoes (cabots) to the front legs add increased elegance to the chest.


(King wood is a classic furniture wood almost exclusively used for inlays on very fine furniture and known as the most expensive wood. It is brownish purple with many fine darker stripes and occasional irregular swirls)

Considering it’s age this beautiful antique French commode is in overall very good sturdy condition, the kingwood and floral marquetry highlighting the overall beauty of the chest with the brass accessories adding to its character. The lift off marble top has no significant defects. The drawers are easily removable the handles secure and intact. The chest does display evidence of age and use with some minor loss to the front aspect but nothing to distract from the beauty of the chest, no other significant defects are evident.
