The Moulin de la Galette is the only windmill in working order on the Montmartre hill in the 18th arrondissement of Paris. It is visible from rue Lepic.
It was once a famous guinguette.
In 1870, Nicolas-Charles Debray, owner of the Blute-Fin mill, added a guinguette and a ball and baptized the whole "Moulin de la Galette" in 1895.
An association "Les Amis du Vieux Montmartre" saved it from destruction in 1915...
