This item is a vintage SANWA Model SP-6D Electric Instruments Multimeter.  Included are a set of 34-1/2 inch red and black test leads (pictures 1 and 3.

The multimeter has a 16 position rotary switch which is used to select a specific electrical parameter to be measured (pictures 1, 2, and 5).  Each position was individually tested for proper performance.  They all worked perfectly.

The meter needle is perfectly straight and moves smoothly.

The Ohm adjustment potentiometer also works smoothly as designed.

Here is an instruction sheet (with diagram) to replace burned out resistors on the inside of the back cover (pictures 6 and 7).

Overall dimensions of the multimeter are:

·      Width:   3-11/16 inches

·      Depth:     1-1/2 inches

·      Height:    5-1/8 inches

HOW TO REPLACE A RESISTOR BURNT OUT

The SP-6D adopts non-adjustment circuitry which allows you to replace by yourself the resistors burnt out account of overvoltage.  The illustration shows the resistors subject to burnout when 1KV is inadvertently applied to each range  of the meter.

Replacement resistors of 1% allowance are available at your dealer.

PICTURES

A.    There is some glare in the pictures.  Attempts were made to eliminate as much as possible, but some remains.

B.    Pictures 1, 3 and 4 show the meter.  The way the light hits the needle produces a shadow on the scale.  When making measurements, the multimeter can be physically moved to eliminate the shadow.  This will allow a clear and concise reading to be made.
