This is a very rare, very old, Suduk Pedang from Central Java. A form of short sword in silver dress. It was a important symbol of Javanese authority and nobility. Similar as an official function with the "Keris Panjang" of Sumatra and Malay areas.

This piece dates from probably the late 17th or early 18th century, mounted in 19th century dress. A fine quality forged blade, most probably an Empu's work, rarely offered. Unfortunately, there is no scabbard.

Materials are forged iron, "repousse" silver work technique. There are some minor deterioration due to it's age and intense cultural usage.
