This is a 1947 New York University Violet yearbook, for the School of Commerce Accounts and Finance. It is 77 years old.

There are group photos of the football team (page 53), the basketball team (page 59), and selected members of the baseball team on page 65.  There is an interesting photo of a switchboard operator of the time on page 75.

One especially notable person pictured is Alan Greenspan, who was to become chairman of the Federal Reserve Board.   He is shown on page 101 as president of the Economic Society.

Alan Greenspan (born March 6, 1926) is an American economist who served as the 13th chairman of the Federal Reserve from 1987 to 2006. He worked as a private adviser and provided consulting for firms through his company, Greenspan Associates LLC.

First nominated to the Federal Reserve by President Ronald Reagan in August 1987, he was reappointed at successive four-year intervals until retiring on January 31, 2006, after the second-longest tenure in the position.  Democratic leaders of Congress criticized him for politicizing his office because of his support for Social Security privatization and tax cuts.

Greenspan attended George Washington High School  from 1940 until he graduated in June 1943 He played clarinet and saxophone along with Stan Getz . He further studied clarinet at the Julliard School  from 1943 to 1944. In 1945, Greenspan attended New York University's Stern School of Business where he earned a B.A. degree in economics summa cum laude  in 1948 and an M.A. degree in economics in 1950.  In 1977, Greenspan obtained a Ph.D. in economics from New York University.

Another notable, pictured as a graduate on page 192 is Henry Taub.

Henry Taub (September 20, 1927 – March 31, 2011)[1] was an American businessman and philanthropist  who was a co-founder of ADP.

Taub was educated at New York University.  He graduated from NYU in 1947 with a degree in accounting.

In 1949, he founded Automatic Payrolls Inc. (API), a manual payroll processing service in Northern New Jersey. That company is now known as Automatic Data Processing (ADP) and is the leading provider of computerized payroll and benefits management services to employers in the U.S. He retired from ADP in the mid-1980s.

The  book:  The yearbook is in good condition.   The book is 12 1/4" tall and  9 1/4"  wide. Covers are light blue cloth over boards.  Front cover has small photo of what must be a part of an academic building   There are 264 pages, including advertising.  There are no loose or missing pages.  Spine is sun-tanned.   There are no binding issues.
