TALL VINTAGE MEXICAN FOLK DANCE MASK
This product data sheet is originally written in English.
Here is a large, well-carved and colorfully painted wood mask used in the indigenous “Danza de Los Enanos”, a Nahua rain dance dating back to the early 19th century and performed by twelve small boys. Dancing and wearing these enormous masks, the disguised children looked very much like dwarves, thus giving rise to the title of this distinctive rain-seeking ceremony. 20” (51 cm) high x 6.25” (16 cm) wide x 5.5” (14 cm) deep, and is decorated with black, white, pink, and red paint. This mask has been in my personal collection since 1959; it is in excellent condition and represents an ideal acquisition for the discerning collector Your item will be securely packed so it arrives safely; my goal is to provide you with 5-Star Service and earn Positive Feedback.
