Cornubia, a popular perfume by Penhaligon's for women, was released in 1991. The name "Cornubia" is the Latin name for Cornwall, a Celtic region in the South-West of Britain, where the brand's founder, William Penhaligon, was from. The word also hints at another Latin word, "cornucopia" - the horn of plenty, a symbol of a life of bliss and luxury.

It is a luscious floral bouquet, with heliotrope taking center stage. The fragrance's creator is unknown due to its age, having been released in 1910.

Cornubia remains a very Edwardian scent, exuding a sense of nostalgia for a world that foreboded the Great War and the fact that the Golden Age would forever be history afterwards.

The initial stage presents warm candied citruses, merging with neroli and the delicate floral note of freesia. The bouquet of white flowers in the middle is complemented by heliotrope, giving the composition an original twist and making it more sophisticated.

The woody vanilla finish is saved from being overly sweet by the heliotrope, adding a bit of bitterness to the vanilla.

It is a wonderfully old-fashioned fragrance, evoking a sense of coziness and comfort, with the potential to transform into a hurricane of passion or flames of scandal at any given moment.

Cornubia is the perfume of a strong, untamed personality, at ease in any situation.
