Acquired in Paris, an unusual sock darning mushroom, it still retains the retailers label to the underside but it's illegible. It looks to be turned in Boxwood, I've no reason to doubt that the painted finish is original, lots of wear to the surfaces due to the nature of its use, the top prises off to reveal a compartment to store needles, this lid is a tight fit.

I'd say c1930-1950 in date.
