Development of the cartridge:
This cartridge needs no introduction. It is perhaps the most widely used ammunition in the world, employed on all battlefields since World War II. It was designed by Nikolay M. Elizarov and Boris V. Semin in 1943, first used in the SKS rifle.
It is a moderately powerful cartridge with a very low production cost. It served as the main cartridge for the Soviet Union until the introduction of the 5.45×39mm, which, while smaller, has a higher muzzle velocity and associated range. Nevertheless, it remains the most widespread type of ammunition.
This cartridge was not only used in the legendary AK-47 Kalashnikov rifle but was designed as versatile ammunition for various weapons such as the RPK Kalashnikov machine gun or the RPD Degtyaryov machine gun. All Soviet and friendly countries utilized it. In the Soviet Union, a lacquered steel cartridge design was adopted as part of cost-saving measures with millions of these cartridges produced at minimal cost. This is also a reason why firearms using this ammunition are so popular.
Today, cartridges of this caliber are also increasingly popular for hunting and sports.
Loading and construction of the cartridge:
Military loadings have slower-burning powder and are filled to the brim. Older series often have aged powder that burns faster, making them more powerful than new ones. Military cartridges have Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) bullets with steel cores of various lengths and weights. Tracer, incendiary, armor-piercing, and other types of bullets are common for special purposes. Hunting versions may have soft-point (SP) bullets or special bullets from various manufacturers.

The pendant's hanger is turned from brass and is securely embedded into the bottom of the cartridge at the primer location, ensuring the pendant's waterproofness, distinguishing it from most similar products.
Brass parts can be polished using brass surface treatment products such as Sitol.
