These spools look like mini machine knitting cones.

 The spools are 4+ inches high and 8 inches circumference at widest point 

2 very thin plies of thread

Almost as thin as mercerized sewing machine thread

The thread is new and clean It has spun on a cone which is in good condition. 

It has been in storage for some time.
