Comes with a plug in "remote" control mic with a cord about 30" long.   The mic   has an ON-OFF switch to control the operation of the tape deck, to pause while recording or playing.    This switched was tested to be working to control the power of the unit.

The unit requires 3 x C size and one 9V battery to power it. Batteries not included.  There is no AC power input.    Power was tested with batteries to rotate  the reels. 

The unit measures about 8" wide x 7" deep x 2.5" high and weighs about 1 Kg. 

Comes with 6 x 3" reels, original tape in poor quality with old recordings of kids playing, mostly

Maybe a good project for an audio tech who can fix the play-sound issue.
