Product Description Shark Spartan GT Elgen KAR

The Shark Spartan GT is the newest successor to the famous Shark Spartan motorcycle helmet. Fresh from Shark, this fiberglass helmet offers new updates from the previous version while still offering what we liked about its predecessor including the light weight, ventilation, and head fit.

The Shark Spartan GT's rivals include the HJC RPHA 70 Carbon, Icon Airframe Pro, Nolan N87 Plus, AGV K6, X-Lite X-903 Ultra Carbon, Arai Profile-V, and the Shoei GT Air 2. Though the Shark Spartan GT and the Shoei GT Air II share similar names, they are still very different helmets with the Shark helmet focused on weight and the Shoei GT Air Two focused on noise isolation.

Shell Material

This full face helmet's shell consists of fiberglass, which means that this will be a very light helmet. This is since you need less fiberglass material to create a helmet with the same strength as an equivalent polycarbonate version. When placed on our scale, the Shark Spartan G T only weighed about 1570 grams in a size M, or 70 grams heavier than the carbon fiber version. The helmet is also produced in 2 outer shell sizes to cover sizes ranging from XS-XXL and it has an intermediate oval fit unchanged from the Shark Spartan.

Ventilation

The ventilation on the helmet has been updated, so that it performs even stronger than before. There are 2 venturi vents in the chin that can be opened and closed via a switch. Venturi vents use a small opening to create a vacuum and draw in even more air into the helmet. As with the previous version of the helmet, there is also a large top vent that is also adjustable. The rear exhaust in the helmet is also adjustable with a switch to open and close it.

Visor

The next major update in the Shark SpartanGT is the addition of the new Shark VZ300 visor. This visor, unlike on the Shark Spartan, uses an additional locking system to improve the safety of the visor mechanism, which has been adapted from Shark's racing helmet: The Shark Race-R Pro GP. You can see how the new visor system can be replaced in our Shark Spartan GT Video Review and Road Test.

The visor is anti-scratch treated and is prepared for an anti-fog Pinlock Max Vision lens, which is also included in the box. The helmet also features the return of the shark drop down sun visor, which can be used with a slide on the top of the helmet in case of any sunny days.

Interior

The comfort liner of the Shark Spartan GT is like that of the Shark Spartan, but it still does include a set of modern updates. As usual, the liner is anti-bacterial, fully removable, washable, and it fits eyeglasses. The Shark helmet also uses a double-D ring chin strap and has an emergency release system in the cheek pads, which are a great safety feature that is becoming more and more widespread.

Lastly, the helmet is also built to directly integrate with the Sharktooth Prime communication System. The system can be installed by removing the noise reducing ear pads in the helmet.

Conclusion

If you liked the Shark Spartan but felt that the helmet had begun to feel outdated, then you will also like the Shark Spartan GT. The helmet features several additional features that the Shark Spartan lacked, especially in terms of the helmet's safety.
