Description:
Second issue "FED-2"
with synchro contact (second edition 1956 – 1958)
The second issue
includes cameras produced from 1956 to 1958. The main improvement concerned the
shutter: now it is possible to switch the shutter speed both when the shutter
is cocked and when it is released]. The design change became noticeable in the
shutter head, which was no longer solid, and its central axis was visible from
above. The modification is also distinguished by a synchronization contact that
appears on the front wall of the case under the rangefinder window. In 1957,
the Industar-10 lens was replaced by the more modern Industar-26M 2.8/52 (50) in a rigid frame. A little later, the sync
contact socket was moved from the body to the top panel.
FED-2 is a Soviet
small-format rangefinder camera. The first independent development of the
Kharkov industrial machine-building association "FED", which replaced
the domestic copy of the Leica II.
