One self-taught communist peasant with a missionary spirit engaged in trade union and political activism; the other student, frustrated by his pursuit of diplomas, launched into documentary journalism as a war correspondent. For 40 years they found themselves in the four corners of the world, the first at the forefront of high-level agri-food affairs, the second at the forefront of major reporting. And faithful to their origins, they returned to immerse themselves together with delight in the intact freshness of their first meeting.
