  • High grade set. Box has standard aging/wear. Sanyei catalog number still readable (most fade or fall off) as the correct #607. Figure, outfit, and accessories are high grade and appear to have little use. The set came to us with the Camo helmet - even though the catalog shows a standard non-camo helmet. We decided to just leave it as it is. Note: Japan has incredibly high humidity. Anything paper related from over 50 years ago is impossible to find without some kind of moisture staining.

We strive to provide an accurate description of all items. PLEASE, please, please EMAIL OR CALL with any additional questions you may have. Keep in mind, you are bidding on a vintage item - expect natural aging....look at the large pictures provided. Also, please be aware that close up pictures might emphasize dust and minor imperfections that you won't see with the naked eye. Most of our items are from 30 to 50 years old and will have some degree of stress cracks, crazing, etc. Expect them. We do not highlight 'typical wear' unless we feel it is out of the norm. Additionally, wires get brittle, rubber dry rots, strings get frail. Talking mechanisms go mute. Battery operated items stop working. All our items are sold for display purposes only.  We will always tell you the operability of items in our possession - but we cannot, in any way, offer any guarantees of their continued operability.

GI Joe 1964 1960s Sanyei Pre Takara Army Flame Thrower Set #607 Japan Exc MIB

Listing is for a GI Joe 1964 1960s Sanyei Pre Takara Army Flame Thrower Set #607 Japan Exc MIB.

Prior to Takara taking over the GI Joe license in Japan (with their own unique figure and eventually creating unique outfits), Sanyei would market mostly unchanged (some minor variations here and there) the military sets that Hasbro sold in the US. Hasbro made much of these items in Japan - so it made sense for them to just sell the same items "locally". Sanyei would market the outfits in the same style and - usually - the same cards but with an added obi (sash) on the corner and/or catalog/product brochures in Japanese. The boots would use the same mold design as the first issue rubber Hasbro GI Joe boots. Sanyei would also sell "window box" versions (similar to the Special Forces window box sold in the states) and they would sell 'dressed boxed' sets in "Action Soldier" boxes (even Marine and Pilot uniforms were sold in these boxes. Sanyei would not use any of the other three military service boxes).

In 1970, Takara took over GI JOE from Sanyei and by 1972, they changed to "new GI JOE" Action Series with an anime type figure instead of the 1960s painted head Action GI JOEs or 1970s fuzzy head Adventure Team GI JOEs. They eventually tagged their own outfits Takara New GIJOE with their unique logo.

Note: As these are scarce - examples rarely show up - and it's, obviously, easy for someone to have 'switched out' equipment in the last 60 years - we are 'bowing' to catalog depictions for 'accuracy' of what each set included.

    • GI Joe Action Soldier Box - although VERY similar to the #7500 US Action Soldier box, there ARE unique differences.
    • GI Joe Action Soldier Figure - same as sold in US
    • Army uniform (pants, shirt) - same as sold in US
    • Army Helmet - same as sold in the US
    • Dog tag - same as sold in US
    • Boots - rubber, marked "JAPAN" - unique to Japan/Sanyei but very similar to the 1st issue rubber boots sold in the US
    • Flame Thrower - same as sold in the US
    • Field Manual - Japanese text

    • Payment is due within 2 days of auction close or date of purchase - EXCEPTION: if payment is snail mailed, we request it to be mailed within 2 business days. Ebay defaults to only online  payments but we have no problem with personal checks or money orders. Just be sure to tell us you're sending one and note that checks are held up to 10-15 days to clear.
    • We will ONLY ship to shipping address listed on payment. This is an eBay mandatory requirement. Please be sure to select the appropriate address when making payment.
    • We will ONLY ship to shipping address listed on the payment page (this is an eBay requirement). We can't change this - be sure the correct shipping address is selected when paying.
    • We do not charge packing nor handling fees. Signature required on all packages over $500.
    • Combined shipping: Yes, we combine shipping and ship at exact cost. Please request invoice prior to payment (or it will cost you a little more due to eBay's fee structure)
    • Shipping Time: Our normal shipping days are Tuesdays and Fridays. There is a one business day processing time needed for shipments (ie items paid by midnight Sunday will go out Tuesday. We try to get most items paid on Monday shipped on Tuesday - but if time doesn't permit, please don't expect package to ship until Friday).
    • ATTENTION UK Buyers: Yes....we DO ship to the UK. Unfortunately, eBay has a glitch in many of our listings that excludes the UK from our ship-to locations - even though we specifically include the UK when creating the listing. We can fix this but need to do it on a case-by-case basis (we don't always know when it doesn't show up). If you do not see the UK listed and would like to purchase (or at least see the cost to ship to you) please let us know and we'll adjust the listing. Until eBay fixes this issue, this is at least a work around. Thanks, L & L
  • Damaged Items: If an item arrived damaged, contact us immediately. Please be sure to retain ALL packaging including the box and packing materials, and we will file an insurance claim for you.

    Returns:
Due to the nature of vintage and collectible items, there are no returns. Everything is sold AS-IS. Buyer is responsible for reading description and reviewing large pictures provided. The pictures are comprehensive - if it's not in the picture, it's not included. The items we sell are vintage collectables so expect natural aging/wear.  However, we will consider a return if there was a significant oversight in listing. Please contact us for authorization. Buyers would be responsible for ALL return shipping and insurance costs. Insurance would be required and must cover the eBay final bid price. Changes of heart (ie buyer's remorse) will never be a legitimate return reason. We will not consider for return any 'sealed' item which has been open by buyer - regardless of contents. We also reserve the right to charge a 15% restocking fee for returns or order cancellations - at our discretion. We do NOT offer partial refunds.

  • We REALLY love selling internationally. We've met many people through the years and many have become our dearest friends.  Your business is important and valuable to us. However, please do not purchase, if you are unable to comply with the following:

WE DO NOT FALSIFY CUSTOMS FORMS.
Please do not ask us to put down a false amount or classify as a gift. It is the buyer's responsibility to know and pay all their own country's duty/import taxes and fees.

NOTE: We're back baby! Due to the extremely punitive nature of selling internationally on eBay, after decades of selling internationally, we had severely restricted our international shipping to just Canada and Japan. In 2022, eBay announced the institution of new international shipping policies that looked very promising and which we welcomed! Since being accepted to eBay's Global Shipping program, we have been faithfully, once again, servicing our international customers! And darned glad to be able to do so!

  • For those of you who missed all the fun - eBay decided to punitively punish us for 9 months as we refused to sign up for their "managed payments" plan - in which eBay hijacked our payments in order to charge us a fee for access to OUR money when we wanted - instead of when they decide to give it to us. We finally relented when they pulled the plug on ALL our active listings (during this time, we couldn't add or edit listings but could let our normal store items "ride"). But eBay has become a very hostile environment for small business sellers - especially vintage dealers whose business model doesn't fall in line with eBay's forced one-size-fits-all-we-really-want-to-be-just-like-Amazon model. We have been ramping up our presence in other venues - where sales tax isn't collected and we can offer better pricing. Enterprising souls can find us easily by internet searching 'L & L Collectables, San Jose'. Look for us - our eBay inventory is also there - along with non-eBay items. In the meantime, feel free to purchase items here on eBay if you like.
