3 Charles G. Stewart Coin Silver Teaspoons c. 1825 Va, West Virginia Delaware ? These spoons were made by Charles G. Stewart c. 1825. He arrived in Charles Town c. 1820. Since he was about 23 at the time, and born in 1797 in Delaware, it seems likely he was a silversmith in Delaware, although possibly working in another silversmith’s shop. The mark is shown in Catherine Hollan’s Virginia Silversmiths. The mark is also shown in her Virginia And West Virginia Silversmiths, also a good buy. They are engraved “CH” and two are in very good condition. The third has tears on either side of the drop on the bowl, see the photos.
