VISUAL ANARCHY | CFD PRODUCTIONS
Indie B&W Horror Anthology featuring earliest comic book art by superstar ED McGUINESS and SIGNED by writer and publisher JOSEPH "JOE" MONKS (1968-2023)!
Recently discovered by modern collectors for its publication of "Razor: Killing Thoughts" featuring the earliest comics artwork of superstar comics artist ED MCGUINESS, best known for his runs on Hulk (2008), Superman (1987), Superman/Batman (2003), Nova (2013), Spider-Man/Deadpool (2016), and the current run of Amazing Spider-Man (2023-2024), the obscure Black-and-White Horror Anthology from 1994 -- NIGHTCRY -- is once again back in the limelight.
The low-print series was independently published by Visual Anarchy / CFD Productions, the small publishing house founded by late comics writer Joseph Monks, who most famously wrote and co-created with Michael Linsner the cult phenomena horror anthology comic book series, Cry For Dawn, which ran from 1989-1992. Nightcry, a solo venture from Monks, emerged after Cry For Dawn came to an end, but like its predecessor, included early work from several different artists and writers who would go on to gain prominence within the modern comics industry. Nightcry, with a six-issue run, was published 1994-1996.
Our High-Grade copy of the 64-page Nightcry #1 features all black-and-white artwork and is definitely intended for Mature Readers only. The copy is also one of the very few copies of the book SIGNED by Monks on the front cover.
