This is a genuine native carved soapstone carving. Made in the Canadian north The artist has done an excellent job of capturing the spirit of this arctic hunter, it is very unusual to see the diorama in a carving. It is even more amazing given the fact that it is relatively small the base measures about 4 1/2 or 5 inches across so the figures are quite small and extremely well detailed and proportioned. This is expertly done work and best of all it remains in excellent condition, there are no chips or cracks. Sadly it has not been signed by the maker. This is genuine Canadian native soapstone, I lived in the Canadian Arctic for a couple of years decades ago so I have a great appreciation for this art form.
