A 19th century sailor carved bovine tobacco or snuff scoop spoon. This is well made with its handle having ring decoration and a shaped wood end piece. It has an institution collection number on it. It is in good condition overall and structurally sound. It has general wear from use including worn areas, patina to surface, small bites at mouth, light soiling, etc. Not many sailor tools were made of this type, interesting piece for your collection!
