Adidas Irish Rugby Jersey, Long sleeved - Large - Rare - Adidas / Triplestripe sponsorship between 1987 and the 1991 world cup
This jersey has the distinctive adidas number on the back and is in excelllent condition - see photos. This jersey does not have the triplefoil logo on the jersey - as was the case with player issue jerseys.
The adidas logo was allowed on the replica jerseys sold in the shops. So I assume this jersey was a player issue jersey.
The IRFU were reluctant to go with Adidas, but :
'Presumably, the key factor in the IRFU accepting the approach was that only players’ shorts and not jerseys would carry the adidas trefoil, though it would be on replica shirts sold.'
In very good condition (though looks like a few blood spots of blood on the collar - it must have been quite a match!) - see photos
