Decades have passed since the first "Over Drive" pedal was created. How many overdrive pedals have been created so far?

Now, the overdrive has moved beyond the realm of effects pedals and into the realm of guitar amplifiers.

The One Control STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K does not attempt to replicate the tone of equipment that already exists today. No matter how great that equipment is, no matter how high-end that equipment is, if you set your sights on that tone, it is a simulator. Developing an advanced simulator also requires a noble spirit, but that does not make it a true original overdrive pedal.

We started development of the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K with the goal of creating an overdrive that every guitarist in every genre would want. To achieve this, it is important that it be an essential piece of equipment for any guitarist.

Every guitarist uses equipment. The guitar itself, of course, and a guitar amplifier. In particular, a quality guitar amp is the ultimate equipment that any guitarist needs.

So what if there was an overdrive that had the tonal characteristics necessary for a quality guitar amp to be a quality guitar amp?

Naturally, there are differences in tonal characteristics among different models of quality guitar amps. However, all guitar amps have the same tonal characteristics that make them "good sounding" models. BJF, who designed the circuitry for the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K, was well aware of this.

The pedal is designed to stimulate the core of the guitar's sound.

The RED OVERDRIVE 4K is a pedal that will always produce the sound the guitarist wants, no matter what guitar or amp he or she plugs into.

The pedal should maximize the characteristics of the guitar, amp, effects pedal, and other equipment.

To cover the range from complete clean to strong distortion.

To pick up the full range of expression from the player's hand.

The instrument must be capable of fine-tuning the tone quality.

We could not compromise on these requirements when creating the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K.

The STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K can be controlled with a single DRIVE knob from a complete clean boost to low-gain, bluesy overdrive, powerful hard overdrive, and even into the realm of powerful distortion.

The DRIVE knob can be turned down to its lowest setting for a complete clean booster. At this point, the VOLUME knob provides up to +6 dB of boost.

Once the gain is set, it can be instantly reduced by turning down the volume on the guitar side without moving the DRIVE knob. This is a beautiful, sensitive tone with rich overtones. This is reminiscent of a superb 1-volume tube amp.

The response of the pickups allows the guitar and amp to maximize their characteristics even when the gain is set high. By actively utilizing the pickup select switch as well, you can change the expression that the tone has in abundance.

High-response, high-dynamic-range overdrive pedals can sometimes sound unwieldy, but the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K always maintains the core of the guitar's sound, with a dense center of gravity and an unshakable tone that is always easy to handle while responding dynamically to the guitarist's manipulations. The RED OVERDRIVE 4K always outputs a manageable tone while responding dynamically to the guitarist's manipulations.

The STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K can produce the sound that guitarists want, no matter what kind of amp they use, because the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K has the same characteristics as a quality guitar amp. The TREBLE control on the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K is an active tone that can control the mid to treble range from -3dB to +6dB, with a range of 70Hz to 7KHz when the TREBLE is turned down, and 700Hz to 7 KHz range when the TREBLE is turned up.

This characteristic allows you to adjust from shimmering distortion with an emphasis on overtones to warmer tones with the treble cut off. Since the tone will not be extreme no matter which position it is set to, the knob's variable range can be used in great detail to create the desired tone.

In addition, the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K provides a LOW knob. This knob allows you to cut and boost the low end.

The STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K satisfies the requirements of a guitar amp in terms of powerful and tight low-end, but there are times when you may feel that the low end is coming out too strongly depending on the characteristics of the guitar, amp, or speakers you are combining it with. In such cases, the LOW knob can be adjusted to match the low-end amp.

 Ease of handling as an effects pedal

Even if you create an overdrive pedal with excellent characteristics, if it is powered by a dedicated outlet and is the same size as an amp head, it will be a poor choice for the player.

The STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K takes up minimal space on a pedalboard, thanks to One Control's unique machined aluminum ultra-compact housing.

Furthermore, despite its minimal size, the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K is also battery-powered, so you can enjoy the sounds of STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K wherever you go.

In addition, when powered by an adapter, it can be driven from 9V to 18V. When driven by a higher voltage, you can enjoy an even wider dynamic range and three-dimensional tones.

Driving a tube amp

STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K has tonal characteristics common to high-quality amplifiers. Therefore, using the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K with a tube amp will further emphasize the amp's characteristics and provide superb drive.

For British-style amps, the TREBLE range of the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K is a perfect match, pushing the possibilities of the amp's EQ section even further. It also extends the sound forward and increases tonal resolution. The STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K pushes the gain and prevents the amp from gaining too much gain, resulting in a higher resolution tone at the same gain. LOW control also works effectively to adjust the tonal balance.

For American-style amps, the gain can be increased to push the amp without losing the brightness of the amp. These amps sometimes tend to have a strong treble, but the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K's TREBLE control allows you to set the tone balance appropriately. The STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K makes it easy to create a strong and cohesive distortion sound that is difficult to create with classic American-style amps.

The STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K also works best when combined with a modern high-gain amp. You may think that overdrive is unnecessary because the amp itself is highly distorted, but the bass response of the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K combined with the LOW and TREBLE controls will give you a higher resolution tone.

By combining the gain of the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K with the gain of the amplifier, you can lower the gain on the amplifier side a little to suppress overly saturated tones, but still maintain the power of high gain and push the sound further forward.

Driving a transistor amp

The characteristics required for a truly high-quality guitar amp will not change whether it is a tube or transistor amp.

Even if the amp side is out of these characteristics, the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K's tonal characteristics common to high-quality guitar amps can be utilized to obtain tones that bring out the limits of the amp and guitar, something that normally can only be created by an expert.

In particular, a transistor amp with a larger speaker will produce a tone with a high rush and mass, as if it were a combination of a high-output amp and a large cabinet. Furthermore, the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K's unique compression gives even transistor amps tube-amp-like characteristics.

In particular, when driven by an 18V adapter, the STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K produces a three-dimensional and deep drive sound that is unimaginable with the original transistor amps.

The idea behind STRAWBERRY RED OVERDRIVE 4K (SROD4K) was to be able to push any amp and speaker combination, any pickup, from low gain to medium gain overdrive and distortion, as well as distorted amps and other distortion pedals The sound of the SROD4K is unlike any other overdrive I have heard on the market. It's a muscle overdrive, but it's also old school and truly versatile.

The SROD4K's EQ options are kept within the range of what you would actually use in a live or recording situation, and the extreme settings have been purposely eliminated to allow for more detail and versatility.

Because of its miniature size, SROD4K can fit in airplane baggage, for example. It can be carried anywhere, so you will always be able to use the best tones.
