Mid-Century Saint Therese of Lisieux Chalk Statue
This Catholic statue is a reverent depiction of the Little Flower of Jesus as a young Carmelite nun. St. Therese is shown wearing the brown habit and mantle of the Carmelite order. She is holding a crucifix and a bouquet of roses close to her heart. St. Therese is the patroness of foreign missions. Her feast day is October 1st.
The polychrome statue is made of solid chalk/plaster and meticulously painted by hand. It stands 12-1/4" tall including the base x 3-1/4" wide x 3-1/2" long. Molded from an original sculpture, this artwork is finished by hand, and carefully handled from start to finish. With only a 522 Marking present and some research, this may have been made in Italy by Columbia Statuary.
Imperfections are shown in picture, still beautiful statue could use restoration or enjoy her as she is till one of a kind!
