Rare art pottery tile by AETCO (American Encaustic Tile Company) depicting an old English nursery rhyme - “Ding Dong Bell”

Framed in an Arts & Crafts period quarter sawn fumed oak frame ca. 1918.

Signed on back, 6” square tile only; 11 1/2” square framed.

This nursery was first printed in Thomas Ravenscroft's Pammelia, Musicks Miscellanie in 1609, as a canon for four voices.

American Encaustic Tiling Company, founded in Zanesville, Ohio in 1875, producing their first glazed tiles in 1880 and embossed tiles in 1881. By 1890, they were the largest tile company in the world. The firm closed in 1935.
