FT-2 was produced at KMZ from 1958 to 1965. In total, about 16.6 thousand units of this model were produced.

The device is designed for narrow format film type 135, but produces frames with a format of 24x110 mm. Standard film holds 12 frames.

For reference, I’ll say that the frame format of the Horizons is 24x58 mm, we’ll come back to this later, but for now I’ll give you this comparative diagram of the frame sizes of the regular, Horizon and three FT models.

Fixed lens Industar-50 3.5/50. Aperture set to f5 and not adjustable

The lens is mounted in a special rotating drum and, when the shutter is released, it rotates 120 degrees horizontally, scanning the space and projecting the image onto the film, which is also curved in an arc.

No lens focusing required. The lens is tightly focused at hyperfocal distance. The closest border of the RIP is 10 meters.

The shutter speed is adjusted by changing the rotation speed of the drum.

The shutter selects shutter speeds: 1/100, 1/200 and 1/400.
