I service professionally any vintage lens.
This is something I do in my spare time , for many years, no matter of make and model.
I do this driven by my passion for photography, for vintage lenses , and so you guys can enjoy a vintage glass on it's full potential, without having to worry about the issues that a 40/60/70 years old lens has without being service.
This listing is for a cult lens, the very rare Petri 55mm f1.4 .
This lens was made in house by Petri, designed by Petri's own lens designer. It is not a tomioka made lens kike many believe, no connection between tomioka/chinon/revuenon/mamyia f1.4 and this lens.
The lens is an improved Pancolar type lens, the improvement lays within tje rear optical group(see the very large rear element of this lens). It has better control of Chromatic aberrations than many f1.4 lenses out there of that era.
I have modified/adapted this lens to m42 mount , it has a custom made M42 mount plate.
The lens has been adjusted to reach infinity with the new M42 mount.
Auto aperture control has been cancelled for this mod, however you can set the aperture manually as on any other manual lens.
The aperture is clickless by redesign on this early models. Later 55/1.4 petri has an aperture with click stops.
If you would like this lens in original Petri Mount, please let.me know and I can reverse the whole modification.
The lens has been fully serviced (I never service a lens partially ) , completely disassembled, every little part has been cleaned, washed, polished, re lubricated. The washing process , with detergents, not only helps for a nice and clean look of the barrel, getting all the dust out, but it also eliminates the risk of any fungal traces/spores may exist on the parts.
Mechanically the lens is is perfect fully working order since it has received a full overhaul.
Smooth focusing action, I use a home made grease designed for camera lenses, which I found to be the best available on the market after testing many other industry dedicated greases during the years.
This grease is made by one of our eBay members "red-vision" and is available here on ebay.
Clean dry aperture blades (the whole aperture barrel has beed de greased and washed throughout. ).
Optically the lens is in good condition as you can see in the photos.
I have to mention from the beginning that this lens had fungus when received in stock.
The fungus has been professionally removed , however if you look at the front glass from certain angles in strong light you may see some marks left by the fungus.
On normal inspection the glass looks clear.
Micro dust may always be present, this is common even on brand new lenses, just mentioning this for those who inspect rigourously their lenses under torch light.
All the optical elements have been treated with my antifungal cream and cleaned individually.
The lens is tested and performs wonderful as it should.
I have my own copy of such lens, it is my favourite 55/1.4, and my advice is to use this lens with a good lens hood - pay attention on Chinese lens hoods, they make things worse with them than without them, this is due to the shiny black paint used on the inner side of them.
I have also re blackened the sides of the optical elements as the old paint fades over the years. This improves massively the contrast .
The lens comes in custom M42 mount.
Sold with front and rear caps.
