1953 Ford F100 Pickup

Take a 1953 F100 truck, take it all apart, take it off the frame, then painstakingly replace or renew every bolt as needed when you put it back together, then while doing so add a few bits of and pieces of upgrades as well as some eye candy.  You now have this awesome truck, miles deep blue paint, a steel creamy white painted grille and on consignment waiting for you!  This 1st place winner at the Carlisle Ford Nationals in 2022 makes for a very nice example indeed!

Exterior
Straight off the farm, the entire body was given full on rust remediation to provide a truly solid cab.  The remainder of the truck was assembled from more straight steel then painted back to the factory Sheridan Blue.  To finish the bed, stained oak and lacquered finish for lasting durability alternate with shiny mounting bed ribs.  Add on some removable bed topper sides for extra hauling capacity, or leave them off and allow the truck to show off its sporty natural lines.  Up front, a creamy white thick grille insert has a single headlight on either side and a shiny chromed tri-pointed star badge in the center.  A FORD cloisonné lightning bolt with a gear is the logo used for 1953 and it sits in the front of a bulbous hood.  On either end is a chrome laden metal bumper with dual chrome tips peeking out the corners of the rear.  Wide whitewalls wrap 15-inch Sheridan Blue painted steel wheels completed in the center with a moon cap.

Interior
The interior is finished with all steel door panels painted Sheridan Blue and showing as factory fresh.  The headliner, rear cab panels, are gray MDF.  Meanwhile the floors have rubber covering them and floating on this flooring is a single bench seat which is made up of smooth black vinyl on the bottoms and back sides.  The factory black plastic 3 spoke steering wheel is perched atop the column and wears a hood matching Ford lighting bolt emblem on the center horn pad.  Gazing further allows us to view the truncated cone instrument cluster with black face and white lettering, just the way it came from the Edgewater assembly plant.  Down below are a slew of chrome trimmed black knobs and pulls along with the ignition switch.  A simple glovebox is in front of the passenger and looking downward we see a factory Ford heater.

Drivetrain
The original Mile Maker 215ci I6 has been replaced with a C3AE-6015-A casting 240ci I6 within the restored engine bay.  This mill is dressed in the correct aqua blue and is stickered to appear as the original.  It is topped with a 1-barrel carburetor with a snappy see-through float bowl and sports an oil bath air cleaner on its top.  A 3-speed manual transmission is on, and the rear axle weighs in at 3.92.  Nicely done and looking simple but elegant.

Undercarriage
With no rust to be seen in the field of black steel we note solid framing, toe kicks, and floorboards as well as running boards and hangers all in the looking good category.  Leaf spring suspension all around and drum brakes do the same for all 4 wheels.  A single exhaust with a stainless steel muffler splits off to dual exhaust that runs to the rear of the truck and looks just fab.

Drive-Ability
A turn of the key and the big inliner roared to life with the help of the stainless steel adorned exhaust.  On the test track it ran well, handled nicely and has solid brakes.  All simplistic functions are working as they should with the exception of the wipers not wiping.

There are those rare individuals that upon taking on a project, do their research, and want nothing but the best mainly because their name is on it, or it is their legacy.  Nothing wrong with that, especially when it shows up at your front door as a consignment, looks and drives like it does.  Someone who acts quickly will be the lucky dog.  Buy it and be assured to never come home without a trophy.
