Each Fano Oltre series guitar is handbuilt in the USA using an old-growth North American Alder body, maple neck and a nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The result is a resonant, lively instrument crafted with care and precision. This series allows for a number of customizations, from color to pickguard, knobs to pickups. Models can be built with either a maple or rosewood fretboard to meet the needs of a variety of players. What Do We Think

Candy Apple Orange, Leopard Print pickguard, single open coil humbucker and a trem can only mean one thing. Rock ‘n’ Roll! If you’re looking for a not-so-average offset guitar, this is the ticket.

Although there’s only one pickup, there’s quite a few killer tones thanks to the series/parallel mini toggle. In the standard series mode there’s a strong midrange with great articulation and a tight low end. In parallel you get a slight scoop on the mids and a more single coil character. It can even put you in Tele territory if it needs to. We prefer this to a coil split, as there’s less of a volume drop and more punch.

 

How Does It Play

This worn-in beauty sets up with the string action at barely a hair over 4/64” on the low E string at the 12^th fret, and under 4/64” on the high E. There is no fretbuzz and the frets are smoothly dressed and polished. The contoured neck heel makes those upper-fret transitions smooth and effortless. The early 60’s-inspired C profile is quite fast, but maintains a nice amount of shoulder to support the hand and thwart fatigue.
