Introduced by Volkswagen AG in 2008, the DQ200, also known as the 0AM or 0CW, is a 7-speed Direct-Shift Gearbox (DSG) that stands out in the realm of automatic transmissions. This innovative gearbox was engineered with an emphasis on reducing fuel consumption and minimizing emissions.

The DQ200 is distinctively equipped with a dry double clutch and is transversely mounted at the front. It’s specifically tailored for vehicles with an engine torque of up to 250 Nm, making it an ideal fit for models such as the Polo, Golf, Passat, and Touran.

It’s important to note that despite its unique design and functionality, the DQ200 has had its share of issues. These include gear shifts at low rpm, clutch vibrations and slip, rattling noises, and in some instances, the vehicle failing to move. These challenges are particularly noticeable when compared to its predecessor, the DQ250.

Nevertheless, the DQ200 continues to be a significant milestone in the evolution of automatic transmissions due to its unique design and functionality.
