Description

The J-200, named the King of Flat-Tops along with the Martin D-45, continues to reign as the top model of Gibson acoustic guitars. It showed off its presence with its gorgeous decorations and overwhelming body size. After that, it was loved by many big-name musicians such as Elvis Presley, Bruce Springsteen, and Kiyoshiro Imawano, and has always demonstrated its presence without regret as a symbol of Gibson's longed-for guitar! This is an original Gibson J-200 made in 1995, which was ordered by Yamano Gakki, the Japanese distributor at the time, for the Japanese market only!

Solid Sitka spruce top, solid maple SIDE & BACK, maple/rosewood 3-piece NECK, rosewood fingerboard & bridge, 44mm nut, 17" super jumbo body with 25.5" scale. The flower-motif PG and the mustache bridge are symbolic of the top model's majestic appearance!

The sound is dynamic and powerful maple sound typical of the jumbo body! The sound is the dynamic and powerful sound of a jumbo maple body, with a crisp, grainy maple tone, a generous mid-low range, and lustrous, lush highs. When played with a flat pick, the thumping bass, thick midrange, and sparkling highs combine to create a powerful sound with a great sense of presence. The scallop bracing adds a rich sustain that can only be achieved by playing with the fingerboard!

The condition of the instrument has some minor scratches and signs of age, and it already has an imposing appearance that gives it the aura of a vintage guitar. The top of the body is covered in weather checks, giving it a dignified appearance. Gibson guitars look good with scratches and weather checks, don't they? Recently, there are more and more Gibson fans who don't like scratches and like beautiful instruments, but I still think that a Gibson is only as good as it is played to the hilt (laughs). In addition to the weather checks, there are a few dings and scratches, but I think there are not many flaws for the age of the guitar. The neck is made of three layers of maple and rosewood, so the border between the maple and rosewood on the back of the head is a little noticeable, but there are no bumps on the back of the neck due to pulling, so the back of the neck feels very good to the touch.

The neck is in good condition and is generally straight. The current string height is 2.5mm on the 6th string side and 2.0mm on the 1st string side at the 12th fret, which is the best setting. The neck is strictly speaking slightly forward warped, and there is still room in the truss rod, but a little more warp seems to be the best setting for a good balance. There is still room in the saddle, so further fine tuning of the string height is possible. The frets have some wear, mainly on the low frets, but even at the lowest point there is about 70% of the original height remaining.

Recently, the number of new guitars on the market seems to be decreasing. If you are looking for a good used one, this is the one for you.

An Original hard case is included.
