This small sculpture (6.5" x 2.25" x 2.25") appears to be made of some type of hard poly resin sitting on a black marble square-shaped rock (2.25"/side & 0.5" thick). In excellent condition - no signs of chipping, cracking, or scratching.

According to Greek Mythology, during Roman times, as the eighth of his labours Hercules (Heracles) was sent by King Eurystheus to steal the Mares of Diomedes from their owner, Diomedes, a Thracian king who possessed man-eating mares. These horses had doglike faces and lions' manes. Hercules, with the help of his lover Abderus, stole the mares from their stable and herded them down to the seashore.
