Classic columnar Cyprus native to Southern Europe adds a Mediterranean touch to the landscape. Drought tolerant when established these dense green fast growing evergreen trees reach 60 feet tall and 5 to 10 feet wide. Makes a great accent or screen.


Italian Cypress is an evergreen conifer. In its native habitat, it typically grows in a spreading, open-horizontal form. Cupressus sempervirensstrictais of the familiar narrow-columnar orfastigiateform that typically grows 40 to 60 feet tall. This columnar/fastigiate form is the cypress of classical literature that has been commonly planted in Italian classic gardens since Renaissance times. This columnar/fastigiate form features scale-like dark gray-green leaves on upright branches. Foliage is aromatic when crushed.


Italian Cypressis very long-lived, with some trees reported to be over 1,000 years old.
