Description

Since its production started in 1932, the D-18 has always been the D-28's favorite model and has supported the music scene. The D-18 is a masterpiece model produced by Martin, and deserves to be called the eternal standard along with the D-28! This is a 1998 model, which is one of the standard specs before the model change!

Solid spruce top, solid mahogany SIDE & BACK, mahogany NECK, rosewood fingerboard & bridge, standard X-non-scalloped bracing, maple bridge plate, 42.7mm nut, 25.4" scale, Martin's traditional Dreadnought body. The neck is a low-profile neck, which is more familiar than the current 44.5mm wide neck. This is a rare used instrument, as it has been converted to a D-18 standard!

The sound is simple, gentle, and transparent! It does not have the sparkling overtone sound of the current model, but it has a solid fundamental sound with the suppleness that is typical of Martin. The solid midrange of the non-square core, the glossy and transparent treble of the maho body, and the elasticity of the sound that is unique to Martin, are all mixed together to give you the standard sound of a true model acoustic guitar, which is pleasant and stable to the ear. The sound is very standard and is a perfect example of an acoustic guitar! When played with a flat pick, the guitar has a gentle but voluminous sound, and when fingered, it has an honest and transparent sound that is typical of mahogany. Even if you have been away from Martin for a while, you will surely be satisfied with its relaxing and soothing sound! This guitar is also equipped with L.R. Baggs i-Beam active PU, so it is ready for live performance and recording!

The condition of the instrument is in fair to good condition with few scratches, but there are some repairs. There is a crack on the top of the body from the bottom of the 5th string to the end of the body, which has been repaired by gluing. There is also a 3 cm crack repair from the bottom of the third string. It seems that the crack has been used for a while without being repaired, and the crack is slightly stained and looks like a black streak, but the gluing itself has been done well and there are reinforcement cleats on the back, so there is no concern for future use. The cell binding on the body has shrunk and has been repaired by gluing. It seems that this was not repaired immediately, and there are some chips in the paint film at the border between the cell and the body, which are a little noticeable. The paint is a little rusty to the touch, but since it has been repaired with firm adhesion, there is no need to worry about the cells peeling off in the future. Other than these repair marks, there are almost no dents or abrasions, and it remains in quite beautiful condition.

The neck is in good condition and straight, and the current string height is 2.5mm on the 6th string side and 2.0mm on the 1st string side at the 12th fret, which is the best setting. There is still enough room in the saddle for further fine tuning of the string height. The frets have no dents that are of particular concern, and are still almost at 100% height.
