They were  manufactured by Hinchcliffe in the last century.

This cavalry regiment arrived at Quebec in June 1776 without any horses. They served as infantry till August 1777 when they were almost wiped out in a failed attack in Vermont in an attempt to capture enemy pack animals and mounts for themselves.
