For your consideration is this beautiful completely handmade antique applique quilt, likely made prior to 1930.  Designed from what looks to be an original flower design and using feminine colors (Nile Green, Coral and Pink), this quilt is a one-one-a-kind collectable.  Originally made by 'Aunt Dawn in Delaware' this small quilt (approximately 64" X 74") is slightly rectangular in shape. Because of its unique shape, size, and antique condition, this quilt may be best suited as a display item stacked with other quilts, draped over a railing or quilt rack, or as a wall hanging (by adding a sleeve to the back).  Because it is so precious looking, this quilt would be a beautiful decoration for a vintage-themed nursery!

Made from 100% cotton materials and a thin cotton batting, this quilt is completely hand pieced and hand appliqued.  The quilt consists of a total of 30 (9" x 9") flower appliques arranged in six rows of five flowers per row, all within an inner (green) border.  Each flower has a yellow center surrounded by coral petals, pink petals, and four green leaves.  The perimeter of the quilt features a green vine and leaf pattern that goes all the way around, with the same flower petal design repeated in each of the four corners.  The binding looks like it was sewn on separately and features a 1/4" green inset that is hand stitched down.  Additionally, when you look closely, it looks like 2" were added to each side (perhaps because it was originally made from narrow-width material, typical for that era).  The backing is plain white and the quilt is hand quilted in a flower design.  The quilt weighs approximately 3 lbs., 11 oz. (not super thick or heavy).

This quilt is in overall good to very good condition but it was obviously loved and used by its previous owner(s).  The material is still strong and there are no holes or other damage that I would consider significant for a 100 year-old quilt.  However, please understand that this quilt definitely shows signs of previous use including wear, thinning/missing material in some places, and signs of previous repairs that could have been done better.  The only stain I can find is one small blood stain on the back, near the edge.  I have photographed all of these imperfections in the last seven photos with each imperfection circled and positioned next to a dime for size comparison.  The small blood stain is likely not removeable after 100+ years (please be advised that this stain is most likely permanent).

In spite of these imperfections, the charm of this antique quilt is undeniable.  Made in a time before modern conveniences, this quilt was a labor of love by Aunt Dawn, likely made for someone very special to her.  A beautiful piece of art and American textile history for the collector, decorator, or anyone who appreciates beautiful old things that someone skillfully made with their own hands.

Please look closely at all of the photos and the video which show the details of the condition as described - these photos provide the detailed description for this item.

This quilt has been laundered in cold water - it is clean and ready to use or display, there are no bad smells or other storage-related issues.
