Rare Pre-Columbian Peru Central Coast Chancay Embroidered Chili decoration Turban or mantle ca. 1100 AD. With 4 edges present decorated with Greek key design, center panel is a fine gauze with embroidered yellow Chili peppers. In Chancay culture the yellow Chili was greatly revered, during ritual periods when people fasted salt and Chili peppers  were the sacrificial spices not to be eaten.
