Antique PURPLE AMETHYST Canadian Qt WALLACEBURG GEM Canning Jar *RARE* 1910-1923

Gem jars, also known as shouldered Mason jars, were once popular for home canning, especially in Western Canada. To estimate the production date of a Gem jar, compare the style of the script on the jar with a timeline of Ball Logos. This would date this particular jar from 1910-1923.

CONDITION: There is a crack on the bottom, but the jar is completely intact. I'm not sure if it goes all the way through and if the jar can hold water or not.  There is age-appropriate scratching and wear to the top threads consistent with use. The glass lid insert appears to be blue and not purple so I'm not sure if it's original to the jar or not. Please see picture, specifically the last one to view the crack.
