• Rufus Parnell "Parnelli" Jones (born August 12, 1933) is an American professional racing driver and racing team owner. He is notable for his accomplishments while competing in the Indianapolis 500 race and the Trans-Am Championship series. In 1962, he became the first driver to qualify over 150 mph, winning the pole position, then won the Indianapolis 500 race the next year, in 1963. Among his many wins, he won the 1970 Trans-Am Championship and the manufacturer's title for Ford with his 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302.
