Here is a circa late 1920’s JINASHI style -natural bore- shakuhachi. It is available in my TENSEI Line of restored/ rebirthed shakuhachi. This is very nice playin flute most likely crafted by a monk. This is a very functional flute for its kind - a meditative solo flute, but can go with the player’s skill level to a rich velvety overtone quality. It’s lightweight and a perfect flute for solo playing in your quiet room into the night or out in nature.

There is an original ivory Myoan style utaguchi blowing edge inlay. There is very minimal wear on the blowing edge but the aged wabi sabi detail is quite beautiful so I kept it as original as possible, this does not affect the playability in any negative way at all. I’d love to keep all my flutes but it’s just time to find them good homes..

Free Domestic shipping for USA.

Comes with the full care kit and 100% technical support should the instrument ever need servicing. This means domestic shipping to me as opposed to Japan where shipping costs, insurance and tax will cost more than a repair.

As with all my instruments, this one comes with an audition period and full refund or exchange if it’s not a good fit. If you asks questions to see if it’s the right flute for you and it does not fit for any reason. You will even have your shipping costs refunded. I stand my all my instruments.

I have received numerous grants to study shakuhachi playing and crafting in Japan. My main teacher is Kinya Sogawa in the style of Yokoyama Katsuya and his teacher Watazumi. You can visit my yungflutes site for more biographical information and plenty of repair information. There are many shakuhachi deals to be found on eBay but if you've found a flute with issues I'll be more than happy to make it work. Please feel free to ask any questions anytime.
