Vintage Harley-Davidson Motorcycle PHOTO 1943 Military Police News Bulletin #947

Featured in the December 13th, 1943 Harley-Davidson Dealer News Bulletin - Issue #947. The Original has a half-tone pattern that remains present in the reproduction. From the ranks of the thousands of Military Policy in our Armed Forces will come many of our finest motorcycle officers in days of peace. Here are four Harley-Davidson mounted Military Police at Mitchel Field, New York. Left to right, Cpl. Kenneth R. Grove; Pfc. Lawrence Deloy; Cpl. Clyde McWilliams; Pfc. John Bryan. This print is professionally printed edge-to-edge on high-quality glossy/luster photo paper. All prints are on finger-print resistant 10 mil (0.25 mm) thick paper, and YES, even the largest prints are on photo paper, unlike everyday posters. This photograph, and many others like it, is a reproduction from the estate of Harry Molenaar. A lot of time and effort was put into restoring the decades of wear, tear, and fading of the originals. We hope you'll love the print as much as we loved restoring it.

About the Molenaar Archive

Located in Hammond, IN - Molenaar Harley-Davidson was one of the longest running Harley dealerships in America. Harry and Signe Molenaar owned and operated the shop from 1933 to 1998. Though it was no longer franchised as of 1991.

Harry and Signe also built and operated the Illiana speedway from 1945 to 1999. This track would change names several times throughout its life, starting as Molenaar's Farm, becoming Molenaar's Speedway, then Schererville Speedway, and eventually Illiana Speedway. The track was home to many legendary American Automobile and Motorcycle Racers.

Harry and Signe had long and successful careers, from Harry's racing career (1920s-60s) to their many sponsored local and national charity functions. They were charter members of the Illiana Lucky Wheels MC, sponsored many other local Motorcycle Clubs, were lifetime A.M.A members, and held many National A.M.A events at their track.

My father was a close personal friend to Harry & Signe for 22 years. He met him by chance while walking his dog. Harry employed my father to perform various odd jobs. For a while he lived at the race track (Illiana Speedway), and worked at Harry's 3rd Shop (Molenaar Harley-Davidson) in Hammond, IN.

After Signe's passing Harry opted to stay at work, and the shop became his retirement home. My father would continue to check on him daily, and convince Harry to come out and grab a bite to eat. Most of their time was spent reminiscing about the good old days. The original photograph and many others were gifted to him by Harry's heirs for his decades of loyalty and friendship.
