A Collection of Books by Mary Engelbreit -
In each of these books you
will find the wit, wisdom, and whimsy of Mary Engelbreit in both word
and illustration. In typical style, she draws upon the wisdom gained from others and that which we learn as we live our individual lives. She then creates illustrations that help us understand the significance of both the environment in which we live and our family relationships.
Generally speaking, these
books are in very good condition. There are no missing pages and none
of the pages are marked, creased, or torn in any way. Blemishes or flaws, if
any, are noted in the description for the individual book and in the
related photos.
- It Never Hurts to Ask / A Changing Picture Book by Mary Engelbreit - 5 1/8" x 6 3/4" - 10 pages . . . A unique little book, it contains a poem to Santa that expresses the Christmas wishes of Ann Estelle. Illustrations related to the words of the poem will change to another image by pulling the tab on the outside edge of the page. The newly revealed image supports the sentiment in the second part of the related verse.
- Be It Ever So Humble - 5 1/4" x 6 3/4" - 40 pages - dust cover . . . In
this book, Mary has taken the poem, "Be It Ever So Humble" by Ernestine
Schuman-Heink, and created an illustration for each line. Note: On the inside of the front cover (6th photo), some of Mary's stickers have been placed to cover up what was probably the name of a previous owner.
- When a Child is Born, So is a Grandmother - 5 1/4" x 6 3/4" - 28 pages - dust cover . . . With the title of this book based on an Italian proverb, Mary's creative poem and illustrations bring a deeper meaning and understanding to the idea behind the title and the impact a baby has on "Grandma!"
- Ain't Life Grand! / A Treasury for Grandmothers . . . 6 3/8" x 7 1/4" - 64 pages . . . Complete with Mary's illustrations, this book is a compilation of proverbs, quotes, poems, shorts stories, and anecdotes by authors, known and unknown, all having to do with grandparents. Note: There was an empty sleeve on the inside cover (9th photo). I have taken the liberty of filling it with one of Mary's magnets.
