WW2 Seaman's (Rating's) black round cap with ribbons and HMS BELFAST woven in gold on black ribbon.  The cap, lining and ribbons are in excellent condition. The chin strap ribbon has some mothing.  Interior of the cap has a leather band.  The owner has written his name "Paul Starling" on the leather band. There are no other markings on the interior.  The circumference of the hat is 21 1/4 inches, about a size  6 3/4 to 6 7/8.  

The HMS Belfast played a crucial role in protecting the arctic convoys, Russia's supply route throughout the war,  most notable in it's role during the Battle of North Cape, which saw the sinking of the German battle cruiser Scharnhorst.  She is now permanently moored as a museum ship on the River Thames in London and is operated by the Imperial War Museum.
