Whirling Derby game and still has 1 magnetic plane. From the late 1950s. The plane here is
the red one and the small
magnetic planes are always the hardest parts to find with Replogle sets. Collect it for the game or if you are a vintage globe collector this is a very unique piece to add to your collection!
Mid-century, 8" in diameter and 10" tall tin litho 1950s metal globe with world map. The 1950’s and 60’s saw several companies pushing out innovative toy globes and globe related games. Replogle’s Whirling Derby game is the successor of their more well known Global Air Race game and one of the better conceived pieces of the era.
Included: Globe and 1 plane
Condition: Overall globe and plane are in good vintage preowned condition - The colors are still strong on the globe
and its spins well - does have some rusting and scratches / wear from
use and age. A very fun globe with countries that no longer exist as
well as countries that didn't yet exist back in the 1950s - fun
historical piece!
