Vintage archtop with excellent playability, made in 1966

The Gibson L-7C, which went into production in 1948, is a cutaway version of the traditional L-7, and the L-7C is still highly regarded by many jazz guitarists and other guitarists in a wide variety of genres.

The body is 17 inches wide, with a veneer spruce top and figured maple sides and back. The fingerboard and bridge are made of Brazilian rosewood, and the position marks are split parallelograms with pearls. The body has three layers of binding, and the neck and head have single binding.

The binding is original, and there is a slight bump at the neck where it joins the wood, but not enough to detract from the appearance. Some of the pegs are slightly misaligned, but this is not a problem in use. The neck has been reset and there is a crack in the paint film at the joint between the neck and body. The tailpiece has been replaced with an ES-335 style tailpiece. The truss rod cover has been replaced with a 2-ply one with the word CUSTOM engraved on it. The pickguard was missing when we received the guitar, so we had a repair store we work with make a new one that matches the appearance. The bracket has also been replaced and now uses Phillips head screws. There are two screw holes between the fretboard and the top near the neck joint. The tuners and knobs are original. The bridge screws have not deteriorated much and you can change the setup to your liking. The setup is currently set low and playability is very good.

The condition of the fingerboard is slightly wavy if you look at it severely, but it is within the proper range, and the truss rod has been confirmed to have more than 60 degrees of leeway in the tightening direction. The fretboard has been refretted and is approximately 80% high. The nut has been replaced. There are some scratches, dents, and weather checks, but playability and sound are perfect.
