Reproduction Medieval Norse Hood
100% Wool tweed lined with Linen
The hood was based on a wool hood (D10608) unearthed from a medieval churchyard at Herjolfsnes, Greenland. It is sewn from a high quality grey/black wool twill and lined with linen. It has a slight peak at the forehead and a deeper one at the chest. The original hood came from a boy's grave, so I scaled this one up slightly. This hood pulls on over the head, so will fit a forehead circumference up to 22" - a men's small or an average women's size. This was made for a comparative study of the Herjolfsnes hoods and caps, and has only been tried on for photographs.
