Reproduction Medieval Norse Cap
100% Wool tweed faced with Linen
The cap was based on a wool cap (D10610) unearthed from a medieval churchyard at Herjolfsnes, Greenland. It is sewn from grey-black wool tweed and faced with linen. It looks a bit lopsided and disreputable, just like the original cap. This will fit a forehead circumference up to 24." The original cap had an extra seam on the crown, which I reproduced for this cap, but I did not reproduce the mends and patches, since I did not have enough information on them. This was made for a comparative study of the Herjolfsnes hoods and caps, and has only been tried on for photographs.
